A bit further down the road, you can drive to access the Blaeberry River for endless hiking, whitewater paddling, or fishing. See guidebook (pdf sent in check in messages or physcial guidebook) for map and directions.
The mighty Kicking Horse River also provides world class sections of whitewater to paddle on a guided trip by local tour agencies.
In the winter, our local gem Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is the place to be if you want to ski cold champagne powder! It’s exactly half an hour from your front door, we timed it. And in the summer they can hook you up with a downhill mountain bike to experience the mountain on a well equipped machine.
There is really no shortage of things to do around Golden, whether it’s ski touring in historic Rogers Pass or a day trip to have a picnic at Canada’s second tallest waterfall, Takkakaw falls in the Yoho valley, The Blaeberry Base has you covered.
Getting aroundThe Blaeberry Base is 2 minutes off the TransCanada Hwy and 15 minutes from Golden. The Blaeberry is accessible by car in the summer months and may need the security of winter tires after snow fall in the winter months.
